Contina Quick-McQueen, Ed.D., is honored to join The Blueprint for Maryland's Future Accountability & Implementation Board as a passionate advocate for educational excellence and equity. She brings over 30 years of experience in public education and educational leadership, having served students and families at both the elementary and secondary levels. Dr. Quick-McQueen has been the Supervisor of Instruction, College and Career Readiness at St. Mary's County Public Schools since 2024. Previously, most of her experience was as a school principal. She has also participated as an Expert Review Team Member for the Maryland State Board of Education since 2022.
Dr. Quick-McQueen currently serves on the Maryland Citizens Review Board for Children. She has also contributed to the Pillar 1 Committee for Early Childhood in her district and to the committee that developed the district's literacy plan. Dr. Quick-McQueen has served as a youth mentor and was the mentor for a group of female high school students who won Maryland's 5th District's first annual Congressional App Challenge in 2014. She has developed opportunities for high-impact tutoring, demonstrating a deep commitment to empowering learners of all backgrounds. As principal, Dr. Quick-McQueen was nominated as Leader of Excellence for the elementary school she led in 2022. She is dedicated to collaborating with board members and community stakeholders to advance the mission of The Blueprint for Maryland's Future and to create meaningful opportunities for educator and student success.
Dr. Quick-McQueen earned her National Board Teaching Certification in the area of Early Childhood in 2004 and subsequently maintained her teacher certification during her Principalship in 2014 and 2023. Dr. Quick-McQueen holds a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Maryland, College Park; a master's degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from McDaniel College; a master's degree in Reading Education from Towson University, and a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Francis Marion University.
